TEST Preparation Programs

Many students come to Canada in order to enter universities and colleges. Applicants are accepted at these institutions based on their academic record and their English abilities from standardized test results. As the English language is used increasingly all over the world, institutions such as government agencies and businesses may also request English test results. At ALMA we prepare students for the TOEFL iBT, IELTS, and LPI tests.

TOEFL iBT Preparation Program:

The TOEFL preparation Program at ALMA English Institute is especially designed to prepare you for the new challenges of TOEFL iBT (Internet–based). The program includes:

• Tons of Practice in ALMA’s highly advanced computer lab
• Language and academic skills and test taking strategies to get a high score
• Improving your reading speed and comprehension
• Learning note-taking & time management skills to write effectively
• Recording & listening to your speech in ALMA’s lab to improve speaking
• Practicing listening with the most up-to-date TOEFL preparation materials
• 3 hours of TOEFL practice test in ALMA’s computer lab Every Friday

IELTS and LPI preparation Programs:

ALMA provides an academic test preparation course that prepares students for TOEFL, IELTS, and LPI. Our program helps students improve their academic writing, listening, speaking and reading abilities necessary to receive high scores in all these tests. TOEFL, IELTS, and LPI are all proficiency tests that measure a student’s English language proficiency and, although they use different formats, they all try to find out how much English a test-taker knows.

ALMA’s program is organized in a way that students receive preparation for academic English language skills 4 days a week, Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, students only practice the tests they would be writing for 3 hours. This helps them to become familiar with the format of the particular test they will be taking, practice individual skills, or do complete practice tests.

Get Extra TOEFL iBT practice tests at ALMA’s highly advanced computer lab Monday- Thursday, 1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.

English Proficiency Test (EPT):

EPT is an English language proficiency test that measures the English Language ability of ESL students who wish to enter universities and colleges in Canada and provides an accurate estimate in TOEFL iBT scale.*
EPT is comprised of 3 parts:

The total test time is approximately three hours, and the candidate receives a comprehensive report after the test.
