ALMA's Methodology

The organization’s methodology and the two guiding principles are reflected in the name of the school. ALMA stands for Applied Linguistics Motivational Approach.

An applied linguistics approach to language teaching means that this school takes it upon itself to incorporate the latest research studies and developments in applied linguistics into its curriculum and daily teaching practice and use these findings of applied linguistics and related sciences in improving its quality of instruction.

On the other hand it acknowledges and advocates the important role that motivation plays in second language teaching. Several bodies of research studies in second language education have shown that learning a second language is such a challenging process for the learners that “motivation” has to be an inseparable and ongoing component of the teaching repertoire. Insisting on a research- based approach to language teaching to raise the quality of instruction, and a motivational approach to optimize students´ participation and learning process are what distinguishes ALMA from other language schools.
